Bouquets as an Accessory

Bouquets are lending themselves as an accessory for the bride, rather than serving solely as an extension of the event design. Flower choices remain timeless--orchids, roses, calla lilies and peonies--but they are being married with less-conventional succulents and ornamental grasses to add a touch of whimsy.

Clutch styles, Biedermeier concepts and a new take on the cascade are all popular choices for presentation, but designers are adding a contemporary spin. Ribbon is no longer just a creative way to hide stems, but rather a way to incorporate the brides personality with heirloom broaches and vintage fabrics, fruits and vegetables are collaring the flowers, and long garlands are attached to add movement.
